20.09.2024
Hey, it’s Friday again!
With no break in between and after the unexpected finish of the last Grand Prix, Formula 1 returns this weekend to the Marina Bay street circuit for the Singapore Grand Prix.
Ferrari is the favorite at this track, but after what we saw in the last race and in previous years, McLaren and Mercedes will be still strong contenders.
As for Red Bull, they know it’s going to be a tough race. They’ve even decided not to use their special livery planned for this weekend to avoid adding extra weight to the car!

NEWS
👑 Dethroned
Red Bull has lost its lead in the Constructors' Championship after dominating and leading the standings for 55 races (847 days) since the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix. Helmut Marko has already accepted that the Constructors' title is out of reach and he is counting on Piastri to keep taking points away from Norris so Verstappen can stay ahead in the Drivers' Championship.
🔄 Track changes
The Marina Bay street circuit is known for being tough to overtake on, so after suggestions from the teams, the FIA has decided to add a new DRS zone between turns 14 and 16 at the last minute. This will make it the first track to have four DRS zones. We’ll have to wait until Sunday to see if this change has the desired effect.
🌟 Rookies shine
In just his second race, Colapinto has already scored four times as many points as Sargeant did in nearly two seasons of Formula 1. It seems the decision to replace Sargeant was the right one and there are already rumors that Sauber/Audi might be interested in signing Colapinto for next year. Meanwhile, Ollie Bearman not only finished ahead of Hulkenberg, but he also scored points again, making him the only driver in history to score points with two different teams in the same season.
🧐 mini-DRS
McLaren’s flexible rear wings are once again under scrutiny. During the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, TV footage showed one of the elements of the rear wing lifting at high speed, acting like a mini-DRS (view image). The FIA inspected Piastri's car after the race and concluded everything was legal. However, after complaints from other teams, the FIA has confirmed they are reviewing all the evidence again, including TV footage.
💭 Rumor of the week...
... is that Ricciardo will be replaced by Liam Lawson after the Singapore Grand Prix. According to reports, Red Bull feels there’s no point in continuing to give Ricciardo opportunities if he won’t be with the team next season. Plus, given how well rookies are performing this year, they want to promote Lawson as soon as possible so he can gain experience for 2025.
