🏁 F1 Mexico GP 2024 race time

Hey, it’s Friday again!

This weekend, the Formula 1 circus moves to Mexico for the much-anticipated Mexican Grand Prix, before heading to Brazil to conclude this series of three consecutive races in the American continent.

Fun fact: Because Mexico City is over 2,000 meters above sea level, the thin air allows cars to reach speeds higher than those at Monza, even when using high downforce wings.

NEWS

πŸ† Withdrawn trophies
Pirelli designed special trophies for the winners of the United States Grand Prix, but they were never awarded (view image). At the last minute, Pirelli received a warning that the design could infringe on the copyright of Bearbrick figures, so they decided to withdraw them. Instead, they provided improvised awards: a generic trophy for the winner and mini tires, same as those given for winning the pole position, for the second and third places.

🎯 Williams 2026
James Vowles, the head of Williams, has informed Albon and Sainz that 2025 will be a challenging year for the team, as they have decided to scrap it in order to focus exclusively on developing the car for 2026. Due to the regulatory changes, the FIA will allow the development of the 2026 cars to start in January 2025, so Williams wants to begin as soon as possible in order to be as competitive as possible in 2026.

πŸ‘‘ 400 races
Alonso will make history again this weekend at the Mexican Grand Prix, as he will become the first Formula 1 driver to participate in 400 Grand Prix events. The only driver who could match this record is Hamilton, who currently has 351 participations, as the third on the list, Kimi Raikkonen, with 350 participations, is no longer active.

πŸ’ The rumor of the week...
... is that Helmut Marko, an advisor for Red Bull, has made a surprising revelation about Oscar Piastri. According to Marko, Mark Webber, Piastri's representative and a former Red Bull driver, is interested in starting serious discussions with the team. It seems that Piastri does not want to be treated as a number two driver and may be interested in taking Verstappen's seat if he decides to leave the team in 2026.
